These Freeze Dried Fully Cooked Turkey Breakfast Sausages are about 3/4″ thick and they average 2-3/4″ to 3″ long. Along with the bacon, breakfast sausage is an indispensable part of any hearty, traditional, American breakfast. Breakfast sausages are unlike all other sausages, largely thanks to the spice mix. These sausages will work with everything else that finds its way on a heaping breakfast plate: eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, or maple syrup. We found these sausages to be soft, plump, and juicy. The flavor is meaty and not overly salty.
All cans were sealed in an oxygen/moisture free environment. Each can weighs 21.5 oz and contains between 70 and 75 Sausages.

These Freeze Dried Sausages will be manufactured in late January 2017 by a large military defense contractor. Although actual use is always classified on these kinds of bids, our information is that these are purchased for the Executive Branch use, not for our troops in the field. That usually means these go to underground bunkers for continuity of government use by strategic military leaders, congressional members and sometimes even White House staff or leadership. As always, we opened several cans to try these out before we offer them to you, and these sausages are amazing: soft, plump, juicy, very tasty, and as fresh as the day they were flash frozen and dehydrated! Turkey Sausage will provide you with the warm, savory breakfast that you will love!
Preparation: To prepare the sausage, just soak the desired amount of links in warm or hot tap water for 20 minutes and cook.
To prepare on a stove top – heat skillet to medium, place rehydrated links, and cover. Turn links occasionally for even browning for 8 to 10 minutes until hot.
To prepare in a microwave – place rehydrated links on a microwave safe plate and cover with paper towel. Microwave on high for 35-40 seconds or until hot.
Once we re-hydrated the sausage, we cooked it on skillet. However, it is completely up to you how you want to prepare them. Once rehydrated, they look just like regular breakfast sausages that you would get at your grocer’s deli. There was no shrinkage when we cooked them. You can expect 25+ years shelf life as long as the sausages are sealed in the can – and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil them!!!
Once opened they will last:
- up to 1 year in a Zip Lock bag with refrigeration once opened but not re-hydrated
- up to 60 days in a zip lock bag without refrigeration once opened, but not re-hydrated
- up to 5 days in the fridge once they are re-hydrated.
These are perfect for storing and using for many years! You can have great tasting food in seconds with no mess and no waste – and it doesn’t matter if the power goes out!! You can open just one can at a time and in 20 minutes cook one or as many of these as you want however you would cook any other fresh breakfast sausages!!! Perfect for camping, boating, traveling, or at the cabin.
